Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Where is my data stored?
Everything is stored only on the device you use. Nothing is sent to any server or cloud.
Q. Will my records disappear if I delete the app?
Yes. Removing the app deletes all data with it. V1 does not provide a backup feature, so please keep important records elsewhere. Backup and restore are planned for the next update.
Q. Can I move data to another device?
V1 is designed for a single device. Cross-device sync is planned for V2.
Q. I am not receiving notifications.
On iPhone, check Settings → Chaenggimi → Notifications. On Android, allow both notification permission and exact-alarm permission (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM). Reminders fire at 9:00 AM KST on the event day and at the preset advance times.
Q. Can I change the notification time?
V1 sends notifications at a fixed 9:00 AM. A customizable time is under review for a future update.
Q. The lunar date looks wrong.
Lunar conversion is supported only for 1900–2049. Dates outside this range or leap-month entries may cause reminders to behave unexpectedly.
Q. My lunar birthday from iPhone Contacts is not showing up.
iPhone birthdays saved as "Lunar" or "Chinese Calendar" are imported automatically. If only the Gregorian date is stored, it is imported as solar.
Q. If I delete a person inside the app, will syncing contacts bring them back?
Yes. "Show presets again" or "Sync contacts" re-adds them based on the original contact ID. To exclude someone permanently, clear the birthday and anniversary fields directly in iPhone or Android Contacts.
Q. The same person was added twice.
Use Settings → "Clean up duplicate events" to merge or remove duplicates in bulk.
Q. I added a photo but it does not show.
iCloud photos may take time to download the original. Open the photo once in the Photos app to complete the download, then try again. After 30 seconds without a response, a guidance message appears.
Q. What information does the ad SDK collect?
Chaenggimi only serves non-personalized ads through Google AdMob. We do not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) and no behavioral targeting is used. Only minimal data such as the advertising ID and IP address is sent to Google AdMob.
Q. Can I turn off ads?
V1 shows a single small banner to keep the app free. An ad-removal option is being considered for a future update.
