Q. Which formats are supported?
Output: PNG, JPEG, WebP. Input: any image your browser can open (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, …). iPhone HEIC photos may not open in every browser, and animated GIFs convert only the first frame.
Q. Why WebP?
Google reports 25–34% smaller files than JPEG and 26% smaller than PNG at equal quality. In our test at quality 80, a photo was 263KB (JPEG 321KB) and an app screenshot 32KB (JPEG 80KB). At very high quality (95) a photo can come out larger as WebP than JPEG.
Q. How do I use the quality slider?
For JPEG/WebP, 0-100. 80-90 cuts size dramatically with no visible quality loss. PNG is lossless, so the slider does nothing.
Q. Can I convert many files at once?
No — it converts one image at a time. Download it, press “Remove image”, then drop the next file.
Q. Are my images uploaded?
No — Canvas API runs everything locally, safe for personal or sensitive images.
Q. What happens to a transparent PNG converted to JPEG?
JPEG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas turn black. Keep logos and icons as PNG or WebP — WebP keeps transparency.
Q. Is photo location data kept?
No. The browser redraws the pixels and saves a new file, so EXIF data such as GPS location and camera model is removed — handy before sharing a photo.
